Puš Bura / Wind of change

What do you think about life in Ilirska Bistrica (Slovenia) 1996–2011?

Push bura is a repetition of a similar film, made in 1996 by Sokolski dom Production in the first years after Slovenia’s independence. In the style of visual anthropologist Jean Rouch we were asking the local people and other passers-by on the streets how they feel about life in their town Ilirska Bistrica. This film collage from two different periods, 1996 and the year 2011 is made as an experiment where film with the same answers and similar answers is again shown to the viewer after 15 years. In both periods we meet with similar problems, expectations and desires, similar to other small cities in Slovene periphery. During the walk through the town the camera is registering what can quickly be overlooked at first sight. Only after careful examination of the footage we find this visual material to be more interesting and richer than written word.
